Flaubert on the path in Maine.
Life begins again, immediately, here and now with each breath that I take. The breath, as it flows in, brings goodness. And it is goodness that is needed in every moment in order for life to exist and be here. Yet it is at the bottom of the breath when I have breathed it out that I truly begin to examine my sensation and my relationship to this body I inhabit. Sensation becomes so strong it is the foundation the only thing that exists the force to which all of my attention is bound and so breathing brings life sensation concentrates attention and the mind, for a little, while produces nothing for the quiet state of its attention is the only thing appropriate And in this state, the breathing becomes more vital. The sensation becomes so active that every single cell and molecule throughout the body sings with the energy of life itself, sings into a silence so vast it has taken over the universe of my being. And now the breath concentrates itself a bit more, as though the aperture through which it flows into the body were becoming a bit narrower, so that the nature and force of breath were becoming more concentrated, yet without any effort or interference on my part. I come into relationship with this willingly in full consent to receive what is so freely offered here. Already, what is offered here is of very great value. And I realize that before I go out into life, when I work in this way, still mind, attentive breathing, active sensation, I have already received treasures greater than any ordinary thing the world can bring me. All of which are still very small things relative to the gift of real feeling which is what I prepare for. To even come close to real feeling is to experience the powerful and glorious magnetism of the truth that it brings to being. Like a gift from a king at the birth of a new world.
