The act of relationship

In memory of Bill Vanaver. May your soul rest in God, Bill.

There is a place here in this moment right now 
within my being itself 
that lies very deep within the sensation of the body. 

That place is quite still. 
It does not move or vibrate, 
but rests very quietly, 
waiting to receive a very fine vibration, 
a substance that arrives from outside the life of this planet 
and even the life of this solar system or this galaxy. 

For this vibration, this substance 
arrives here in me and in all things now 
from the source beyond knowing 
which creates all of existence 
and gives birth to all life 
here and now within this moment. 

When I come into contact with the sensation of this stillness, 
I come very close to the place where the soul touches God
and I become more finely attuned 
to all of the other living things 
here within the sphere of this planet, 
this solar system, 
the galaxy, 
and the cosmos. 

Because at this root of creation, 
at this root of life and attention and consciousness itself, 
we are all joined into one thing, 
which one might call the body of God. 

So I am here now, as we all are
within this great being-body of God, 
within this great body of the cosmos, 
which contains all things. 

And the glory and the force and the presence of life 
flow into being here and now within me
as they do here and now with all things. 

I relax myself 
and I appreciate the way in which the stillness receives life 
and life gives birth to being 
and being begins to sense itself 
in every cell and molecule of this body 
in such a way that I come back 
to an active experience of the glory 
within which all of creation makes its way through time. 

I sense here in this place 
that what flows into being here and now 
is a refined goodness 
distilled from the substance of love itself. 

And it is gifted to each part of creation, each creature 
by varying degrees 
in active and passive natures. 

It is gifted to all of us so that it can be manifested. 
And I sense with every particle of being that is active in me 
and with every particle of being that is passive, 
that the root of all manifestation towards the rest of creation, 
for me, 
that this root of my manifestation 
should draw both its nourishment and its attitude and its action 
from love and kindness. 

For I have already been gifted these things here and now 
in the hope that I will employ them 
in the act of living, in the act of relationship.
