I discover a relationship to the foundation of my being
here at the root of the soul,
deep in the body,
where my sensation forms a definite contact
with the gravity of the planet.

And I sense the way in which the inward breath is directly connected to that contact, so that I am breathing into the gravity of the planet
and bringing an energy to it that binds us together
in such a way that my whole being
is something like a single blood cell

bringing oxygen to the earth
so that it can breathe life into itself.

The whole of my being pulses,
enveloped by this energy.
Rooted here in the feet,
rooted in the base of the spine,
rooted in the hands.

And there is nothing here but this breath,
here at the root of being.

Sensing in this way,
participating,
the body begins to realign itself
so that the top of the spine and the back of the head
are also more alive and aware.

And I attend in exquisite detail
to the gentle, energetic action
of breathing out the last bit of air
at the bottom of the breath

So that the breathing fills the whole of the body
and all of the energy in it.

The relationship between the whole energy of the body
and the nature of the planet in its own life becomes much more evident
and I see the way in which I feed the earth
just as it feeds me.

The top of the head is more sensitized
to the presence of a much finer energy,
which has not entered me yet.
And I see the way in which my whole being-sensation,
distributed throughout every single molecule in my body,
is a delicate and extremely sensitive membrane
through which energies from outside can enter.

And I am simply preparing here
for what comes and for what can be received.

The more still I am,
the more exactly I inhabit this state of receptivity.
Being more aware of this state through sensation
prepares me today to receive my daily bread.

To remember to forgive,
To remember to breathe,
To remember to serve.
