No matter what I have been doing, I begin again here as though nothing else had ever happened in order to return to a sense of the creature who I am. And immediately I see the way in which it is possible to come in to a much deeper and more intimate relationship with the body, who labors endlessly in order to support this life. Immediately I notice the work of the breathing, which takes place on my behalf without my instruction or command. And as I bring my attention to the place where breathing is located, which is the entire being, I see the way in which even one single breath as it comes in binds me completely to the body and its life. And I see the way that, as the air enters me, it reaches to every place throughout the body. Both the places that are filled and the places that are empty; and that to all places in the body it brings its goodness which is of the air and the planet. And from this place where I breathe, I receive a sensation, the way in which I am a part of this planet and this cosmos, and the way in which life truly begins here, where I breathe in and out. I don't need to do anything to the breath except be with it in attention. As I explore this condition, I move more deeply into the body to follow the energy of the breathing, and to come in to a relationship with the places that it connects to. I let go of the tension within myself to sink into a deeper relationship with the magnetic nature of the blood. The way it attracts materials from the air, absorbs them, and and distributes them equally throughout every single part of being. And I open myself to the deep, deep impression of the way in which this is a food. A food that distributes itself equally throughout the body so that each tiny part of it, every molecular entity and being receives what it needs to do the work that it ceaselessly undertakes on my behalf. And through this alone, without any hypotheses about what life means or why I am here, already I have formed a new relationship with Being, developed a new respect for its nature. And I have seen how work lies at the heart of being, even in the smallest portion of the microcosmos. And the strangest thing begins to happen; because as I am here, a little more connected to this sensation of the true being-body of life itself, I realize that feelings are also a part of this work and this food and that just restoring this very simple connection between the attention and the breathing and the sensation, I have already prepared the ground for feeling to participate and for the goodness of life to arrive. I have taken a simple step, one step closer to where the heart lies. And as this door opens, I say yes.
